The fNIRS-EEG is a new type of instrument developed for brain function detection. At present, the main indicators reflecting brain functional activities are EEG signals and blood oxygen signals. The former comes from the electrical signal sent by neurons in the brain when they transmit information to each other, which causes potential changes on the scalp after passing through the head tissue. The latter refers to local blood oxygen changes caused by the demand for oxygen during neuronal activity, including accelerated blood flow and thickening of capillaries. These two types of signals are collected through EEG amplifiers and functional near-infrared spectroscopy imaging, respectively. This instrument utilizes these two technologies to achieve synchronous matching detection of brain electrical signals and blood oxygen signals, allowing users to view bimodal brain activity information of one or more brain regions in real-time.
